An attorney for a schizophrenic woman, who was shot and injured in May by a San Bernardino police officer after she allegedly charged him with a weightlifting bar, said today that a civil claim will be filed within a month.

Monica M. Monroe was shot in the chest and right arm on May 19 after her husband flagged down Officer Ryan Thornburg, who was cleared today of charges by the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office.

The lawyer representing Monroe is privately retained Dale Galipo, based in Woodland Hills.

Monroe is scheduled to appear again Nov. 14 in San Bernardino Superior Court for a status hearing, according to court records.
