Preliminary hearing postponed in sheriff's deputy road-rage case

Heverly mug.jpgI made a 100-mile trek to Indio this morning to catch the preliminary hearing for Richard Heverly, the San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy accused of holding a gun to a man's head and threatening to kill him during an apparent road-rage incident.

The preliminary hearing, which would have included testimony from a CHP officer and possibly others, was postponed to Feb. 3 for unspecified reasons.

Heverly, a La Verne resident, arrived at Indio Superior Court shortly before 8:30 a.m. wearing a dark suit.

Heverly currently works at West Valley Detention Center.

Heverly declined to comment after the hearing.
