Tehran: Madrid ready to expand ties with Tehran: Officia

A Spanish official from Foreign Ministry said Madrid is ready to expand ties with Iran in political, cultural, economic, parliamentary and trade fields.


Director General for office of Mediterranean, North Africa and Middle East of the Spain Foreign Ministry Fidel Sandgerta, who arrived in Tehran Monday for a 2-day visit, said the aim of his visit is continuation of consultations and exchange of views with Iranian officials about issues of mutual interest either bilateral or regional and international.

According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, Sandgerta met with Director General for Western Europe Affairs Mostafa Dolatyar and they discussed current international financial and economic crisis, the US presidential election and its effects on international developments, especially in the region of Middle East and Persian Gulf as well as Iran's nuclear issue.

The Spanish diplomat also conferred with Director General for Persian Gulf and Middle East office Mohammad Mehdi Firouznia and expressed pleasure with more consultations with Iran on the issues like Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine as well as other subjects related to the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region.
