County to turn "blue" this week; Democrats to celebrate on Saturday.

SAN BERNARDINO – The San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters weekly voter registration report shows 2,070 more Democrats were registered this week, the third week in a row the Democrats have added more than two thousand voters to their party.

The registration statistics are posted on the Registrar of Voters website and are evaluated and reported weekly by Patrick Kahler, Vice-Chair of the county Democratic Party.

Democrats are now within 100 voters of turning the county "blue," meaning having more Democrats than Republicans registered in the county, for the first time in more than six years.

Democrats gained 1,323 on the Republicans who registered only 747 new voters last week. Republicans have seen a dramatic drop in registration since their professional contractors fled the county after being accused of voter fraud.

In the three weeks since Mark Jacoby and his Young Political Majors fled the county, leaving only volunteers to register Republicans, Democrats have registered 3,189 more voters than the Republicans have.

At the present rate of registration Democrats will achieve their long-held goal of turning the county "blue" by registering more Democrats than Republicans in San Bernardino County within the next two weeks.

"This is the second week in a row we have turned in more than two thousand Democrats," Kahler said. "This even tops last week as our single largest weekly gain since the February Presidential primary."

"Democrats are energized and people are waking up to the fact that voting Democratic is in their best interest," said Carol Robb, Chair of the county Democratic Party.

"Narrowing the gap of registration is just the tip of the iceberg. We expect a 'Big Blue' tsunami in November."

"The steady progression of Democratic voter registration reflects this County's dissatisfaction with the Republican incumbents, the lack of leadership they have provided, and the hope offered by Democrats of restored principles and attention to middle class values," said Tim Prince, Democratic nominee for the 41st Congressional District.

"The Democrats have superior headquarters, superior clubs involving grassroots people, and a focus on restoring jobs to America, opportunity to the economy, and hope inspired by new voters."

The Democrats host a "San 'BLUE-nardino' County Celebration" on Saturday from 4 to 11 p.m. featuring Ed Asner, Lt. Gov. John Garamendi, Congressman Joe Baca, California Democratic Party Chair Art Torres, Assembly Majority Leader Alberto Torrico and Los Angeles County Democratic Party Chair Eric Bauman.

The event will be held in Bob Molina Park at the Brotherhood of Teamsters local #63, 379 West Valley Boulevard, in Rialto. Individual tickets are $40, $75 for a couple, and sponsorships are available for ads in the program and a VIP reception.

Tickets and more information are available at http://www.sanbernardinodemocrats.org/

County Democratic Party officials have requested a daily report from the Registrar to track the progress of registration throughout the week and announce the county turning blue on the day it happens.
