UPDATE: Missing San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy found disoriented but in good condition

ANGELUS OAKS - A sheriff's deputy was found disoriented but in good condition Thursday night after he failed to return from a morning hunting trip in the mountains.

Rescue crews found Paul Franklin, 48, around 8 p.m. The details of how he became lost were unclear late Thursday.

Franklin left early Thursday with his sons and another deputy for a day at Thomas Hunting Grounds at 17644 Forest Service Road IN12.

He did not return to the car as expected around 9 a.m. to meet his sons and the other deputy. Franklin was reported missing at 11:30 a.m., officials said.

About 20 volunteers led the search through the mountainous area for him. A helicopter and several dogs were also used.

Franklin is coordinator for the San Gorgonio Search and Rescue Team and has led several rescue areas in the county.
